I broke my nose right after moving to the Carribean coast. Instead of enjoying my new surroundings, I found myself locked in a room, a not-so-cute bandage in the middle of my face and with an anxiety growing. I was really in a dark place and thought there was something wrong with me. Thankfully, I reached out to Maya.
With all the black thoughts coming through, I wasn’t about to heal soon! She helped me understand the importance of the mental health for recovery and she always listened without judging my feelings.
I’m now 2 months since the accident and feel so much better. The anxiety is gone, I am happier and enjoying my life again. My nose is mostly healed, although the doctor told me it takes a year for the nose to come back to a normal state.
I am so grateful for Maya’s insight, experience and support. I feel more equipped to affront unexpected events, whether psychological or physical.

I had an accident in December 2016, a few days before Christmas. A motorbike hit me and I suffered a tibial plateau fracture.
My biggest concern was not knowing if things would ever go back to normal. I was extremely nervous, depressed and tensed constantly. I began to realize that this was more of a mental battle than a physical one. That’s when I realized I needed a different kind of help – and I reached out to Maya.
While working with her I began to feel more positive and confident. I felt supported and knowing that she was speaking from experience helped immensely. Slowly one by one she helped me overcome those mental roadblocks and that helped speed up my recovery. I finally felt that I was beginning to take charge of my recovery and I could make a difference to my healing.
My doctor was amazed at my speedy recovery and the range of movement I gained. Maya played such a huge role in it and I’m so grateful for her help. A few weeks ago I visited the beach for the first time after my accident. I was exhilarated to finally walk there without any problem. And the bonus is that she not only helped me with the recovery but with her help, I became healthier as well.

Even if you are going to physical therapy, Maya’s program is so supportive and encouraging, and it gives me an idea of what I can expect in the coming weeks and months.
I can see in the advanced exercises that I will be able to walk without crutches, safely, and I’m eager to keep progressing.

I fell from a boulder while attempting to climb to the top of it and I ended up with a trimalleolar fracture of my right ankle.
At the beginning, everything looked easy but soon my feelings started to change – sometimes I was afraid I would always be crippled, then I was angry at myself, and there were times when I was also enjoying the excuse to lie in my bed all day and do nothing. Before I started working with Maya I had lots of fears, I did not believe in myself and I felt like I was not good enough. I was focusing on the negative too much.
Maya’s VIP program helped me to see things differently, to be more positive and present, and to believe in myself. I started learning to unconditionally love and accept myself. And now I’m more mindful, I allow to put myself first and I’m also more dedicated to my yoga practice.
I completed over a 100km bicycle ride while working with Maya and I’m now able to do everything I was doing before the accident.
Her experience and knowledge have been invaluable to me and Maya’s kindness and caring nature have really worked for me. I always felt understood and heard. The feeling of being in good hands helped me overcome my challenges so much easier. I am grateful for her knowledge and effort she puts into coaching and how thoroughly she does everything.

“So a year since I broke my ankle… I remember thinking there was no light at the end of this tunnel, especially when I got told I needed surgery and my recovery would take longer than expected.
But I got through it all and I am in such a good place and I’d like to thank you again for everything you did last year.

“Maya has been such a critical part of my recovery after breaking my talus in August of 2015.
Much like Maya, my prognosis was grim at best. The doctors told me it would be unlikely that I would be able to walk normally and pain free ever again. Shocked by the news I frantically started searching for ankle injury success stories on YouTube. I first watched one of Maya’s videos about doctors not always being right in September of 2015. I remember her talking about running and jumping again and never in a million years imagined I would be able to do that again too.
By October of that year, I was tuning into Maya’s periscope for recovery advice, motivation, and wellness tips. Through Maya’s focus on the power of the mind and positive thinking, I slowly started changing my mindset. Not all at once but as much as I could. I convinced myself I could be the success story and visualized myself walking and running every night before bed. I believed in the power of my mind and its connection to my body through insights and advice from Maya and something crazy happened. I started getting better.
My surgeon was surprised to see that my avascular necrosis (anyone who has broken their talus knows this term very well!) had disappeared from my X-rays. I slowly started making progress in my recovery. By February of 2016, I was given full weight bearing status. By July of 2016, I was able to increase my impact exercise as tolerable. (Running, jumping, etc) By next year, who knows!
What I do know is if I hadn’t come across Maya I would not have made such a spectacular recovery. Maya is my angel here on earth and I am forever grateful for her and the work she is doing.”

“I broke my talus two and half years ago while exercising barefoot. I couldn’t imagine that I could break such an important bone so easily, but the x-ray confirmed it and my world went dark… I needed surgery and got three long screws in my talus… 3 months not allowed to walk and 7 months on crutches. And my doctors never had anything positive to say to me.
Luckily I found a video online that totally changed my attitude towards my ankle injury. In that video, Maya was saying that doctors are great but not necessarily all the things they say come true. She said that your body follows your thoughts and I really believe that. Once I started focusing on it, I didn’t just avoid avascular necrosis (what you hear most often from the doctors) – I created a great recovery that is still continuing. Maya showed me that if you can manage your mind, you really can have unbelievable achievements!”

I have more consistent energy levels and a leaner body.
“When I first connected with Maya through Twitter, I had hit a weight and diet plateau and had major fluctuations in energy levels. I was fighting a need to consume alcohol at levels higher than was good for me.
Although I was eating healthy foods and had lost considerable weight, I still had some misconceptions about what was good vs. bad to eat. I ‘fixed’ my energy levels with more coffee and sleep. I figured as long as I ate so-called healthy foods I would be okay. I exercised regularly to maintain what I’d achieved and supposed my remaining body fat would eventually leave.
After working for a month with Maya, I have more consistent energy levels and a leaner body. Through weekly consultations and lots of correspondence, I’ve been motivated to change my eating habits by eliminating processed foods and incorporating more whole grains. My workouts are balanced, shorter and more fun. Maya’s commitment and attention to detail is helping me work towards my goals of lower body fat, better health and the ultimate removal of alcohol from my diet. She has educated me on the importance for a vegan of monitoring blood work.
